📋 Description

• Manage, coach, and grow senior and staff engineers through 1:1s, feedback, and performance and promotion decisions • Set expectations, address problems early, protect team focus and standards • Develop career paths and stretch opportunities • Run planning and execution so the team ships predictably • Make and communicate tradeoffs among speed, quality, and scope • Unblock work and escalate issues when needed • Own reliability, on-call, and incident response • Drive postmortems and improve processes after incidents • Maintain SOC 2, customer commitments, and secure development lifecycle obligations • Partner with product and design on sequenced, buildable roadmaps • Represent engineering to customers, prospects, and executives in technical discussions • Translate customer needs into viable architectural plans • Own engineering hiring, including sourcing, interview design, calibration, and closing • Design team structure and ownership boundaries as the organization grows • Set standards for code review, testing, deployment, documentation, and architectural decision records • Define responsible use of AI tooling in engineering • Improve build, test, deploy, and developer experience

🎯 Requirements

• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future need for visa sponsorship • 3+ years managing software engineers, including senior and staff-level ICs, with a track record of shipping production systems • Strong engineering background, including building and operating backend or distributed systems at scale • Ability to hold your own in a design review • Experience owning delivery for a team, including planning, prioritization, and accountability for outcomes • Experience running on-call and incident response for a production system with real availability expectations • Demonstrated hiring success, including building an interview process • Comfort operating at startup scope with ambiguous problems and shifting priorities • Strong written communication • Experience in security, identity, fraud, or infrastructure-adjacent B2B SaaS • Experience with Go, AWS, and a services architecture • Experience scaling an engineering organization through a growth stage • Experience with SOC 2 or similar compliance regimes as an engineering leader • Point of view, informed by practice, on how AI coding tools change engineering process and quality
