📋 Description

• Lead a customer-facing product engineering team building across NerdWallet’s React Native mobile app and Next.js web experiences • Own the team’s outcomes, people, and engineering craft • Shape the roadmap with Product and Design • Lead the team to build compounding systems rather than one-off features • Lead an AI-native workflow across planning, definition, building, reviewing, and testing • Make tradeoffs between polish and speed while maintaining accuracy and reliability for financial advice • Deliver customer feedback to the team quickly • Communicate the team’s strategy, roadmap, rationale, and progress to peers, partners, and leadership • Lead organizational change and ensure new ways of working are adopted • Collaborate as a peer with other Engineering Managers • Report to the Senior Director, Engineering

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years in software engineering, including hands-on individual contributor experience • 2+ years managing engineering teams; not a first-time management role • Experience managing software engineers with accountability for team outcomes • Experience leading an AI-native product engineering team • Strong product and business instincts • Track record of delivering hard feedback, resetting expectations, and investing in high-performing employees • Technical credibility on a modern web or mobile product stack • Comfort operating in ambiguity • Experience with data, experimentation, and measurement for product decisions • Experience hiring engineers and holding a hiring bar • Preferred: experience in consumer fintech • Preferred: experience with React Native, Next.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, Apollo, or a comparable cross-platform mobile and web stack • Preferred: experience with personalization, recommendation, and customer-data systems • Preferred: experience partnering with compliance and security • Preferred: experience defining an operating model • Preferred: experience coaching other managers • Must be based in the United States • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
