📋 Description

• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes to outpatient visit types • Assign Evaluation and Management codes for physician encounters • Thoroughly review medical records and documentation to code diagnoses, procedures, and evaluation and management services • Collaborate with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers, and clinical areas on coding reimbursement expertise • Interpret health record documentation to report appropriate diagnoses and procedures • Follow official coding guidelines and coding references • Resolve NCCI, NCD/LCD, and other outpatient edit claim failures • Meet minimum coding productivity and quality standards for outpatient encounter types • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• 3 years of experience in an acute healthcare setting • RHIT or RHIA or CCS or CCS-P or COC or CPC certification • AHIMA or AAPC membership • Must reside in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, or Missouri • Part-time, 20 hours/week • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding • Expertise with HCPC Level I and II procedural codes • Knowledge of NCD/LCD and NCCI edits • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, clinical disease process, pharmacology, and medical terminology • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinic, Coding Clinic for HCPCs, CPT Assistant, coding conventions, and instructional notes • Minimum 95% coding accuracy • Ability to meet established coding productivity and quality standards • Successful completion of a criminal-history background check upon hire
