• Install, repair, and maintain industrial and commercial refrigeration, HVAC, kitchen, laundry, and other appliances • Troubleshoot and repair industrial appliances in food service, laundry, and general service areas • Interpret preventive maintenance schedules and complete computer-generated maintenance and repair work orders • Troubleshoot and repair large-tonnage cooling equipment in controlled environments such as labs and computer/control areas • Maintain and repair stationary exercise and recreational equipment • Diagnose and repair pneumatic systems related to building climate controls • Service and repair heating and power boilers, including annual and semiannual teardown, testing, and cleaning • Lay out and install structural and functional components • Assemble motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes • Cut, thread, and connect pipes to functional components and onsite water or power systems • Pump specified gas or fluid into systems; start systems, observe operation, read gauges, and adjust valves, controls, and pumps • Dismantle malfunctioning systems, test components, and replace or adjust defective parts • Insulate system shells and cabinets and install wiring to connect components to electrical power • Attend daily safety toolbox meetings and complete job safety evaluations • Notify supervisors when safety and sanitation standards are not met • Perform other duties supporting department or unit success
• At least five (5) years’ experience working on commercial or industrial equipment, including refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, kitchen appliances, and laundry appliances • Universal refrigeration certification I, II, and III • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy • Must pass pre-employment contract requirements, potentially including a hair follicle drug test, physical and fit-for-duty assessment, and hearing test • Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with employees, customers, and clients • Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision • Must be able to stand for 12 hours per shift during the scheduled rotation • Must be able to live in dormitory-style settings and meet remote-camp cleanliness requirements • Must speak, understand, read, and write English • Must meet and follow company and client safety guidelines and regulations • Must be able to travel by plane and/or bus to remote camps • Must satisfy physical fit-for-duty tests, including lifting 50 lbs., pushing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, stair climbing, ladder climbing, and shoveling • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in arctic conditions • Must be able to work in moderate to loud noise and occasional fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, or caustic chemicals • Candidates outside the Fairbanks area may be responsible for travel and accommodation costs related to pre-employment tasks in Fairbanks, AK
