• Provide in-person or virtual education to defined accounts within assigned geographies on access and reimbursement topics • Support aligned product strategy and manage pull-through of access and reimbursement strategy and downstream operations • Serve as the patient access and reimbursement lead in business-to-business conversations with account executives • Interact with large, complex accounts to support patient access and educate providers and staff on programs • Address customer questions regarding product ordering, payment, inventory, returns, and replacement • Handle Patient Identifiable Information in compliance with HIPAA, privacy laws, regulations, and company guidelines • Identify and report adverse events through established Novartis systems • Support provider-level reimbursement issues with third-party payers and analyze account reimbursement issues • Identify local, regional, and national trends and support patient access to Novartis medicines • Communicate coverage policy changes and issues to internal departments • Inform customers about Novartis-sponsored patient support programs • Interface with the Patient Support Center and Access & Reimbursement Managers on patient case management and issue resolution • Collaborate with cross-functional Novartis associates to share customer needs and access barriers • Assess access situations within the assigned geography and develop Plans of Action • Educate healthcare professionals on acquisition pathways and buy-and-bill processes • Educate stakeholders on ordering, payment, inventory, returns, replacement, and alternative acquisition channels • Engage non-prescribers including pharmacy, system leadership, financial counselors, office administrators, and revenue cycle managers
• Bachelor’s Degree required • 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceuticals or biotech industry focused on Patient Services, Market Access, Sales, and/or account management • At least 2 years in a Patient Services practice support role for specialty products • Experience working with highly complex practices and/or health systems to establish access and acquisition pathways • Strategic account management experience using a proactive approach to anticipate access hurdles • Deep expertise and experience integrating manufacturer-sponsored patient support programs • Experience with specialty products acquired through Specialty Pharmacy networks • Knowledge of specialty pharmacy, buy-and-bill, and retail reimbursement pathways • Strong understanding of Commercial payers, Medicare plans, and state Medicaid in the geographic region • Must live within the assigned territory • Ability to travel and cover the geography; at least 50% travel required • Fully valid and unrestricted driver’s license required because driving is an essential function • Ability to comply with customer credentialing guidelines for customer-facing roles • Ability to complete initial field-role training, including home study, within eight or fewer hours per day and forty or fewer hours per week
