• Perform mechanical engineering assignments on the nuclear steam supply system, including system and detailed component design • Review and evaluate plant systems to define design, performance, inspection, and testing requirements • Prepare, check, and review engineering reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, and other design documents • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex tasks and propose innovative design solutions • Interpret scope and project requirements • Plan, organize, and perform complex assignments supporting licensing scope development • Assist with engineering technical programs related to 10 CFR 50.55a, including Inservice Testing, Inservice Inspection, and Appendix J • Develop and implement system and component design specifications, engineering standards, and drawings • Support proof-of-concept and component qualification testing • Collaborate with NuScale Licensing on domestic and international regulatory efforts • Coordinate design activities and resolve technical problems with coworkers and other disciplines • Adhere to NuScale's safety culture and quality assurance requirements under 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1 • Perform other duties as assigned
• Minimum B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering, from a four-year ABET-accredited college or university • Minimum 5 years of full-time relevant professional experience • PE license in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering desirable but not required • Working knowledge of NSSS systems and components • Detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations • Working knowledge of ASME Codes and Standards • Knowledge of 10 CFR 50 • Nuclear utility or plant experience and knowledge • NSSS system design, inspection, and testing experience • Experience resolving complex and multidisciplinary design issues • Good communication, computer, presentation, and interpersonal skills • Strong technical writing and exceptional organizational skills • Ability to manage projects with multiple work phases • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 • Ability to travel nationally and locally • Ability to acquire, maintain, and develop training qualifications
