• Perform design and stress analyses of pressure vessels, reactor vessel internals, and/or primary equipment supports • Generate and document technical requirements and associated design parameters for modular advanced light water reactor NSSS components • Evaluate components according to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III requirements, including pressure, mechanical/thermal loadings, primary stress, primary plus secondary stress intensity range, and fatigue • Use evaluation results to optimize component designs • Interpret scope and project requirements • Acquire, maintain, and develop training qualifications • Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical direction to less experienced engineers and staff in NSSS Component Analysis • Coordinate design activities and resolve technical problems with co-workers and other disciplines • Serve as technical lead for the NSSS Component Analysis Group • Be responsible for engineering results and oversight • Manage large projects and complete tasks with minimal leadership oversight • Lead cooperative efforts among project team members and assume responsibility for results • Adhere to NuScale safety culture and quality assurance requirements, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1 • Perform other duties as assigned
• Minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from a four-year ABET-accredited college or university • Minimum of 10 years of full-time relevant working experience • Extensive experience using ANSYS to perform stress analysis in accordance with Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Subsections NB, NG, and/or NF • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 • Knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations • Experience with ANSYS finite element software and CAD packages • Experience with seismic/dynamic analysis desired • Computer programming skills such as ANSYS APDL, Matlab, or Python desired • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification preferred • Advanced degree preferred • Ability to travel nationally and locally • Ability to understand and communicate clearly using phones, personal interaction, and computers • Ability to learn new job functions and apply new concepts accurately in a rapidly evolving environment
