📋 Description

• Assist in designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Linux systems • Assist in designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Windows systems related to the HPC environment • Maintain and administer core internal storage, backup, and recovery systems • Troubleshoot and resolve HPC-related issues originating from Linux or Windows systems • Schedule and coordinate server and storage hardware maintenance windows with support personnel • Coordinate application deployment with support personnel and project managers • Provide remote support and participate in rotational on-call hours as required • Review and implement IT operations initiatives, particularly concerning the HPC system • Serve as a technical leader in a focus area • Deliver stable, reliable, and flexible systems and services supporting engineering and HPC processes • Review and implement strategic initiatives for new or enhanced services • Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies

🎯 Requirements

• B.S. degree in Computer Science or another technical degree from a four-year accredited college/university, or 4 additional years of directly related full-time work experience in lieu of degree • Minimum 12 years of full-time work experience in complex IT environments • Direct experience architecting, deploying, and supporting enterprise systems and infrastructure across storage, networking, operating systems, and applications • Systems-related certification such as MCSE, VCAP, RHCE, or similar • Expert understanding of Linux operating systems and networking in large, high-performance, high-availability environments • Experience with Microsoft, at least one virtualization platform, and enterprise-class ISA server hardware (HPE, Dell, or IBM) • Strong networking skills and understanding of LAN, WAN, firewall, and VPN concepts • Experience with enterprise-grade central backup software, VTL, and/or tape libraries • Understanding of network-attached storage (NFS/SMB) and Fibre Channel SAN technology in a multipath environment • Experience managing containers in an enterprise environment • Excellent technical documentation ability • Professionalism and ability to present and communicate effectively with internal departments and senior management • Familiarity with encryption technologies and implementations • Scripting or programming experience, such as PowerShell, Bash, CMD, VBScript, C#, or ASP.NET • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 • Ability to lift 50 pounds • Ability to travel locally using common forms of transportation • Preferred: administration of hybrid on-premises/cloud IT infrastructure; familiarity with Kubernetes; proficiency with Python and REST APIs; software development tools such as Git, GitHub, and Subversion; automated bare-metal provisioning; Ansible; virtual desktop infrastructure; Docker engine; multi-master file and database replication systems; experience in a highly regulated industry
