• Assist patients face to face with billing inquiries across the organization • Review patient bills and collect liability for upcoming procedures • Collect residual and past due balances • Review alternate benefit coverage options for medical and pharmaceutical services • Secure authorizations and set up fee arrangements • Provide coverage at other locations as needed • Assist patients regarding accounts or services through face-to-face interactions, email, fax, mail, and phone • Liaise between patients, providers, external departments, and responsible parties to ensure charges, transactions, balances, and discrepancies are appropriately resolved • Provide timely and accurate estimates for upcoming procedures • Educate patients about financial responsibility and available assistance options • Explain the financial impact of alternatives • Provide high-quality service and maintain patient satisfaction • Remain knowledgeable about applicable laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements • Report suspected unethical conduct and compliance, privacy, or safety concerns
• High School diploma or equivalent • 1 year of customer service, healthcare, or office experience • Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Proficiency with Windows-style applications (Word, Excel and Power Point), role-specific software packages, and keyboard • Reliable transportation as may be required to travel to other facilities to fill in as needed • Ability to remain calm and professional in high pressure/stressful situations regarding patient financial and medical conversations
