📋 Description

• Review outpatient services medical records, primarily surgical, emergency, oncology, and wound care, to assign appropriate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes • Ensure accuracy and completeness of coded information for billing and reimbursement • Stay updated on coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance requirements related to outpatient services • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve coding discrepancies and obtain additional documentation • Work with the Revenue Integrity team to identify and address coding-related issues affecting revenue cycle performance • Provide feedback and education to clinical and administrative staff on coding and documentation best practices • Participate in coding audits and quality improvement initiatives • Keep abreast of changes in coding systems, reimbursement methodologies, and healthcare regulations

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of outpatient coding experience in a hospital setting, preferably with Meditech EHR • Thorough understanding of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding systems • Knowledge of outpatient billing processes and reimbursement methodologies • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team • Proficient in using Meditech or similar electronic health record (EHR) systems • AHIMA Certification required • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred • Prolonged periods of sitting and extensive computer usage • Ability to focus on detailed information for coding purposes
