📋 Description

• Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, families, referring providers, insurance carriers, OHSU healthcare providers, and staff • Answer incoming calls and handle scheduling, general information, referral status, and care-related inquiries • Schedule and manage patient access to Connected Care Center clinical services across multiple specialties • Record detailed telephone encounters and accurately enter patient information in the Epic EMR • Assess and route calls to appropriate staff, including Nurse Triage and clinicians • Process appointments, referrals, workqueues, clinical service requests, and direct referrals • Act as a liaison and information resource for physicians and nursing support staff • Return phone messages and send new-patient information packets • Maintain clinic templates and block schedules in Epic and assist with surgical-service scheduling • Gather and verify demographics, insurance coverage, and financial information • Conduct financial screening using Experian and confirm healthcare coverage eligibility • Obtain and follow up on managed-care authorizations • Set up reservations and admissions for elective inpatient and day-patient procedures • Prepare patients for visits, obtain records and studies, arrange accommodations, and provide appointment reminders • Process, verify, and update incoming referrals and patient demographics • Upload documents using Epic Media Manager and scan records into patient charts • Complete required training, competency assessments, OHSU modules, and continuing education • Provide PAS system instruction to coworkers and serve as a PAS resource • Participate in daily team huddles and collaborate across teams to ensure patient access to care • Work independently from a remote location

🎯 Requirements

• One year of experience in a medical office setting, including high-volume direct patient contact and scheduling of appointments; managed care authorization experience may be required depending on position description • Alternatively, one and a half years of work experience in a high-volume direct public contact position and 6 months of experience in a medical office setting • Thorough knowledge of PAS policies and procedures • Demonstrated advanced PAS user skills and extensive knowledge of integrated care at OHSU • Basic computer skills including word processing, Windows applications, and online scheduling • Preference for database skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong customer service orientation • Demonstrated effectiveness in confrontational customer interactions • Preferred: advanced degree • Preferred: experience with an electronic health record • Preferred: 2+ years of patient scheduling experience • Preferred: 2+ years of healthcare experience, preferably Urology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, GI, or Imaging • Medical terminology knowledge • Ability to learn new computer skills and systems • Preferred: experience using Epic
