📋 Description

• Use integrated health information systems and telephone technology to facilitate accessible, coordinated, and seamless customer interactions • Search accurately for patients in the EPIC database to reduce duplicate patient records • Assess patients’ financial ability to pay and refer them to financial counseling when appropriate • Send eligibility requests to payors to verify current coverage • Provide clinical, insurance, and demographic information to payors for precertification • Verify insurance eligibility using various tools • Request and create referrals for specified populations as required • Pre-certify services, obtain authorization numbers, and enter medical, ICD, and CPT codes into patient accounts • Contact external companies to verify employment and insurance information for workers’ compensation cases • Work with the Veterans’ Administration to ensure services are covered and authorized • Provide accurate information to billing and case management to support claim payment • Maintain working relationships with medical staff, referring physicians, and designees to obtain complete and timely clinical and financial information • Provide customer service while maintaining HIPAA and Office of Compliance confidentiality standards • Alert management to system and workflow problems • Perform Financial Clearance Representative Pre-Reg duties and assist that area as assigned • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Associates degree or higher, or high school diploma/GED with 2+ years of experience in insurance, healthcare, or related field • Excellent customer service skills, enthusiasm, compassion, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills • High level of interpersonal skills for sensitive and confidential situations • Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients, physicians, team members, and others • Attendance, promptness, professionalism, attention to detail, cooperation, and politeness • Ability to escalate issues when necessary • Knowledge and understanding of coding, insurance, and Federal, State, and third-party billing/reimbursement requirements • Experience with PC applications, including MS Office and Internet • Ability to maintain employer training requirements
