📋 Description

• Evaluate responses to test questions by Texas teacher candidates • Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities • Recognize and discuss types of bias, including implicit, cultural, leniency, central tendency, and halo-effect bias, and use strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring • Meet scoring-program quality and productivity requirements, including passing a qualifying test before scoring • Complete training before scoring begins • Attend a possible brief orientation meeting before scoring • Participate in intermittent scoring sessions Monday through Friday every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the subject • Work scoring days from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 4:30 p.m., including training

🎯 Requirements

• Have at least three years of experience teaching the subject you are applying for in the state of Texas • Have taught the subject you are applying for or related courses in a Texas classroom within the past three years • Reside in the state of Texas • Hold a bachelor's degree • Basic computer skills (keyboard, mouse) • Ability to sit for extended periods of time • Ability to maintain a confidential work environment • Eligible to work in the United States • Comply with the ethical obligations under §SBEC 230.21(g), including test security and confidentiality requirements • Agree not to use scorer training/experience for compensated test-preparation work related to this assessment • Agree not to take the exam for the subject applied for within 180 days of scoring • Meet one of the following: be a PK–12 teacher with a valid and current Texas teaching certificate for the subject; be an EPP faculty member of a Texas-approved program offering the subject; or be an EPP faculty member teaching Texas-approved certification courses for the subject
