📋 Description

• Lead campus master planning from raw land through entitlement • Drive design-side site selection and diligence, assessing power, water, geotechnical, floodplain, wetlands, and fiber constraints • Own phasing plans, easements, rights-of-way, and utility sizing decisions • Set design positions on land use, zoning, noise, visual impact, traffic, and water draw • Define design and delivery models for remote sites with limited labor, long material lead paths, and minimal municipal services • Develop prefabrication, modularization, transport-envelope, and on-site versus shipped-complete strategies • Own design responses for water treatment, storage, wastewater, fire water, temporary and permanent power, and workforce logistics • Create repeatable reference designs adaptable to different sites • Write, maintain, and enforce company Basis of Design, design standards, and reference designs across multiple disciplines • Own project requirements and traceability through design, commissioning, and turnover • Run milestone design reviews, manage comment logs and backchecks, and formally accept designs • Own the design risk register and technical positions escalated to executives and investors • Scope, bid, award, and manage AE, civil, geotechnical, environmental, and specialty consultant contracts • Manage consultant performance, design change control, and scope creep • Work with design-build and GC teams on RFIs, submittals, change orders, field-driven changes, and record documents • Replace underperforming consultants and manage transitions • Partner with development, construction, procurement, operations, and commissioning teams • Represent design before utilities, authorities having jurisdiction, permitting agencies, investors, and prospective customers

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years designing or delivering mission-critical, industrial, or heavy utility infrastructure • At least 3 years leading a design function or multi-discipline design team • Direct owner-side experience managing AE firms • Experience writing scopes, evaluating proposals, running structured design reviews, and holding consultants accountable for deliverables • Broad knowledge across mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering disciplines • Working command of IBC/IFC; NFPA 70, 70E, 72, 75, and 855; ASHRAE thermal and energy standards; Uptime Institute Tier topology; ANSI/TIA-942; and permitting environments in Texas and beyond • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management • 40–50% travel availability • Ability to work at active construction sites, complete required PPE and site safety training, work on uneven terrain and in temperature extremes, and work outside standard hours during energization and commissioning • U.S. work authorization status must be provided • Nice-to-have: Greenfield campus-scale ownership from site selection through construction • Nice-to-have: PE or RA licensure, or ability to obtain licensure in target states • Nice-to-have: Owner or developer experience • Nice-to-have: On-site water treatment, wastewater, or on-site generation experience • Nice-to-have: Startup or first-project experience • Nice-to-have: Liquid-cooled and high-density deployment experience
