📋 Description

• Review, analyze, and code medical record documentation for diagnostic and complex procedural information in general surgical specialties • Assign ICD-10, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes to the greatest specificity • Abstract demographic and coding information into the information system accurately and completely • Review documentation for medical necessity • Audit orders and claims before submission for completeness and accuracy and to minimize claim denials • Assess records and prepare reports • Provide technical guidance to physicians and departmental staff to identify and resolve issues or errors • Develop effective working relationships with physicians and other stakeholders • Perform diagnostic, complex procedural, and surgery coding

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required • One year of professional coding experience across multiple physician specialties, including Radiology, Surgery, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Neurology, Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine, Behavioral Health, Pediatrics, Women's Services, Oncology, Gastroenterology, Urology, and other specialty practices required • One or more of the following certifications required upon hire: RHIA, RHIT, CCA, CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CCS, or CCS-P • Experience in coding across multiple specialties preferred • Remote coding experience preferred • AAPC-accredited coding certificate program preferred
