📋 Description

• Develop detailed coating equipment designs • Develop new coating machinery layouts • Provide system calculations for utility and throughput functions • Create equipment specifications and provide project support through development phases • Develop machine concepts for new equipment opportunities using ACAD and/or SolidWorks • Complete capacity studies using part data to determine equipment size and throughput • Calculate utility requirements for new and existing equipment • Develop equipment specifications for coating-system subcomponents • Complete Equipment Design Overviews for customer proposals • Design machine components, subsystems, and master assemblies in a model-centric environment • Evaluate and select pumps, mixers, oven burners, exhaust fans, monorail chain conveyors, and conveyor drives • Ensure designs meet process sequences, engineering standards, applicable codes, customer specifications, and budgets • Collaborate with internal fabrication teams and outside vendors to improve manufacturability and designs • Collaborate with suppliers to determine capital costs • Develop and maintain 2D layouts for planning and system concepts • Interpret customer RFQs and develop custom equipment offerings • Complete P&IDs for information transfer to internal and external customers • Develop project schedules for new equipment builds • Redesign standard machines to improve quality, competitiveness, value, and cost • Act as a technical resource and participate in cross-functional teams • Complete additional assignments and special projects

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is required • Extensive knowledge of 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent) is required • Open to remote work • Ability to travel approximately 25% of time outside base office location • 5+ years of experience in design-to-build environments for large capital equipment projects is preferred • Experience in design of paint coating equipment and systems (washers, ovens, immersion tanks, & conveyor systems) highly desired • Experience using ACAD and/or SolidWorks • Knowledge of equipment design, engineering, and manufacturing principles • Ability to complete capacity studies and utility calculations • Knowledge of P&IDs, equipment specifications, applicable codes, customer specifications, and engineering standards
