📋 Description

• Provide support to medical billing staff • Clarify and verify insurance coverage details with private or government carriers • Provide insurance information to patients before medical services are provided • Track physician referrals and provide necessary details to billing staff • Verify insurance coverage for new patients and referrals • Update insurance information for existing patients • Call to obtain pre-authorization for recommended services and procedures • Inform relevant clinical staff about denials • Answer billing and insurance questions • Maintain effective working relationships with physicians, co-workers, and the public • Mentor new employees • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff • Notify manager of malfunctioning equipment • Follow facility and departmental policies

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certificate • Associate degree (or equivalent experience) • Ability to read and use a computer • Ability to hear well enough to perform telephone operations and communicate with physicians, medical staff, administrative staff, co-workers, and patients/families • Ability to verbally communicate with physicians, medical staff, administrative staff, co-workers, and patients/families • Ability to write and type, sort mail, and perform activities requiring fine motor skills • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally • Ability to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards • Ability to adhere to safety and infection control policies • Ability to function in a fast-paced, stressful environment • Good attendance and punctuality • Ability to follow dress code and identification requirements • Cell phone use for business purposes only during work, with personal use limited to breaks or meal periods • Participate in organizational and departmental in-services and staff meetings
