📋 Description

• Perform testing and routine maintenance of transmission and distribution substation power equipment • Test electro-mechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor relaying • Test pilot channel equipment, controls, and communications equipment • Read and interpret single-line drawings, AC/DC schematics, panel wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings • Support writing procedures and test plans for maintenance and construction activities • Read and verify voltage and current inputs to relays • Verify local and SCADA metering, alarms, and trip functions • Calibrate relays and perform local and SCADA trip testing • Troubleshoot and repair substation relaying and control equipment • Commission new substations and related power, relaying, pilot channel, controls, and communications equipment • Plan, schedule, and complete test activities efficiently, on time, and without service interruptions • Provide project technical support to field service personnel • Travel three weeks to client sites, with a paid long weekend home approximately every three days of travel

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET university or Associates/AET degree • Minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes • Degree with an emphasis on power systems preferred • Experience desirable in substation design, substation construction, substation commissioning, and SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing • Knowledge of 3 phase power systems and power system protection & control schemes • Knowledge of test equipment and test equipment software • Test equipment and tool/wiring usage • Interpretation of wiring and elementary diagrams • Basic test skills to perform listed duties • Basic PC skills • Ability to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups • Ability to learn and apply client’s switching procedures and safety measures • Ability to reference and complete assignments as described in applicable specifications • Ability to perform regular field work indoors and outdoors • Strong interpersonal, communication, business acumen, and management skills • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) • Valid driver’s license and good driving record • Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading and writing
