• Manage the scope, schedule, and budget for assigned projects from kickoff through closeout • Interpret substation contract, proposal, and scope language and confirm delivered scope • Lead multiple concurrent substation and interconnection projects, including complex multidisciplinary projects • Manage internal engineering resources and external subconsultants • Manage submittals, RFIs, and change requests through resolution • Identify project risks, scope changes, and schedule impacts early and drive them to decisions • Prepare, track, and submit monthly project invoicing • Apply standard project management procedures with independent professional judgment • Serve as the day-to-day reference point for project teams and route technical questions appropriately • Coordinate civil, electrical, power systems studies, and structural discipline leads to sequence work and meet deliverable dates • Plan engineering work and resource assignments with technical leads • Review deliverables for client expectations, quality standards, and contractual obligations • Confirm execution meets client requirements, utility standards, and applicable jurisdictional requirements • Maintain accurate project documentation and records • Serve as a primary client contact on assigned projects • Lead meetings with clients, internal teams, and subcontractors • Present project status, risks, and technical issues to client stakeholders • Contribute scope, budget, and schedule inputs to proposals • Assign and direct work for engineering discipline team members • Mentor project engineers and less experienced project staff • Share substation delivery knowledge with the broader project management team • Meet project deliverables and deadlines and perform additional related duties as assigned
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a closely related field, or similar applicable work experience • Five or more years of project management experience in engineering consulting, EPC construction, renewable energy, or a comparable industry • Direct experience delivering high voltage projects, such as substation, interconnection, or transmission work, as a project manager or project engineer • Ability to read substation, transmission and other medium/high-voltage project contract and proposal terms and explain their delivery implications • Demonstrated ownership of project scope, schedule, budget, and invoicing • Confident, credible communication with technical client stakeholders • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and resolve complex project issues with limited direction • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time, including overnight trips • Ability to rent and drive a vehicle for business purposes, including maintaining a valid driver’s license and required auto insurance • Prior substation engineering experience before moving into project management preferred • Experience at a design-build or substation engineering and construction firm preferred • Greenfield substation project experience preferred • PMP certification preferred • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and subconsultants preferred • Familiarity with the utility-scale renewable energy project development lifecycle preferred
