đź“‹ Description

• Lead the end-to-end design of Riverside's Reach platform and next generation of portfolio assessments, including CogAT and Iowa Assessments • Establish the UX framework, interaction patterns, and design system for a new 0-to-1 product • Define personas, journey maps, information architecture, and navigation models • Lead user research and discovery with students, educators, administrators, and internal stakeholders • Translate research findings into user flows, task flows, and interaction models • Build wireframes and interactive prototypes for user and stakeholder testing • Turn assessment data into actionable score reports, dashboards, and configuration screens • Design onboarding and in-product guidance for educators and administrators • Establish and track UX success metrics, including task success and usability scores • Build and maintain a scalable design system and component library • Own high-fidelity visual design across the product • Design accessible, responsive interfaces compliant with WCAG standards • Design print and PDF layouts for reports and assessment materials • Partner with Engineering on design specifications, developer handoff, and design QA • Report to the Product Director and collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Psychometrics, and Content teams • Support, iterate, and expand the Reach design system and UX after launch as assessments and features are added

🎯 Requirements

• 4-7 years of experience in product, UX, or UI design, with meaningful depth in both user experience and visual/interaction design • Proven experience as a founding or lead designer on a 0-to-1 or greenfield build, defining UX frameworks, interaction patterns, and design systems from scratch • Strong foundation in UX research methods, including interviews, usability testing, and surveys • Ability to translate research findings into personas, journey maps, and actionable specs • Experience building and maintaining a design system or component library from the ground up • Proficiency in Figma or comparable tools for flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes • Experience designing for multi-role, multi-stakeholder platforms and complex, data-heavy interfaces • Working knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and responsive design principles • Comfortable operating with a high degree of ambiguity and limited existing structure • Preferred: experience in K-12 education, assessment, or clinical/behavioral health products • Preferred: familiarity with AI-assisted design or product workflows • Preferred: HTML/CSS or React/Next.js familiarity • Preferred: experience mentoring designers or setting design standards across multiple product teams • Remote work; occasional travel for off-site team meetings or conferences • May require sitting or standing for extended periods
