📋 Description

• Perform acceptance, maintenance, and diagnostic testing of high-voltage electrical equipment • Commission new substations, transformers, breakers, switchgear, capacitors, reactors, and protection systems • Conduct transformer, circuit breaker, protective relay, CT/PT, insulation resistance, power factor/dissipation factor, SFRA, TTR, battery and charger, ground grid, cable, and fault-location testing • Diagnose and resolve failures in substation equipment and power systems • Analyze electrical test results and identify equipment degradation or abnormal conditions • Develop corrective action plans and recommend repairs or replacements • Support emergency outage response and system restoration activities • Lead field crews during testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities • Mentor and train junior technicians on equipment testing practices and safe work procedures • Review testing procedures, commissioning plans, and technical reports • Provide technical expertise during project planning and execution • Prepare detailed field service reports and test documentation • Maintain accurate records of testing, maintenance, and commissioning activities • Review engineering drawings, schematics, protection settings, and construction documentation • Ensure work complies with company, customer, and regulatory requirements • Promote safety and operational excellence • Lead job safety briefings and hazard assessments • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NERC, IEEE, and company safety requirements • Maintain qualifications and certifications required for energized and high-risk work activities

🎯 Requirements

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Power Systems Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of technical training and industry experience • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical testing, commissioning, and maintenance of high-voltage power systems • Demonstrated experience with transmission and distribution substations from 4 kV through 500 kV • Experience leading field crews and commissioning projects • Strong understanding of power transformers, protective relaying systems, high-voltage circuit breakers, medium- and high-voltage switchgear, control circuits, SCADA systems, electrical protection and control schemes, and electrical power system analysis and diagnostics • NETA Level III or IV Certification preferred • NICET Certification preferred • OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred • NFPA 70E Training preferred • First Aid / CPR Certification preferred • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities • Strong leadership and mentoring skills • Excellent communication and technical writing capabilities • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and protection drawings • Proficiency with electrical test equipment and software platforms • Effective project planning and organizational skills • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and use of personal protective equipment • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds • Ability to climb ladders, access elevated structures, and work within energized substations • Travel required up to 90% depending on project location • Availability for overtime, emergency callouts, and extended work assignments • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
