📋 Description

• Lead critical safety initiatives and advise engineering teams and customers • Execute civil safety assessments according to ARP4761 or military safety assessments according to MIL-STD-882E • Develop System Safety Program Plans, Functional Hazard Assessments, Fault Tree Analyses, and Safety Assessment Reports • Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software engineering teams to define safety-critical requirements • Review design documentation for safety-critical systems and provide expert analysis and feedback • Mentor less experienced engineers and foster continuous learning • Partner with customers, stakeholders, and organizational leaders to develop plans, solve challenges, and deliver results • Support avionics programs primarily based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa • Travel approximately 5%

🎯 Requirements

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience • Experience in safety-critical systems • Experience with ARP4761 or MIL-STD-882E safety standards • Familiarity with ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-178B/C, and DO-297 preferred • Proficiency in CAFTA or equivalent safety analysis tools preferred • Proficiency in Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) preferred • Foundation in reliability engineering theory, statistics, and mathematical modeling preferred • Technical expertise in avionics safety • Ability to meet U.S. Person requirements • Approximately 5% travel
