📋 Description

• Own the end-to-end network architecture and multi-year roadmap for data center fabric, backbone and edge, and cloud and hybrid connectivity • Design and build spine-leaf GPU cluster fabrics for multi-node inference and training • Own multi-region interconnect, transit and peering, anycast, traffic steering, DDoS protection, and edge security • Connect cloud, bare-metal, and partner capacity through VPC, VPN, and private interconnect • Define network monitoring, change management, incident runbooks, repair processes, and on-call practices • Build capacity-forecasting models and translate growth into bandwidth, port, interconnect, procurement, and build plans • Automate network configuration, validation, rollback, provisioning, and telemetry-driven remediation • Use AI tools for design exploration, configuration generation, telemetry analysis, documentation, and automation code • Set network standards, review designs across Infrastructure, Platform, and ML Engineering, mentor engineers, and define the network engineering hiring plan and operating model • Evaluate and select hardware, optics, carriers, and interconnect partners and negotiate performance and cost • Report to the Head of AI Infrastructure; start with no direct reports

🎯 Requirements

• 15+ years in network engineering and architecture, including at least 5 years as the design authority for large-scale production networks at a cloud provider, hyperscaler, CDN, HPC/AI infrastructure company, or carrier • Hands-on experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting networks • Experience building data center, backbone, and cloud networks from the ground up • Expertise in spine-leaf Clos fabrics, EVPN/VXLAN, BGP at scale, 400G/800G Ethernet, RoCEv2, lossless Ethernet, PFC, ECN, DCQCN, and InfiniBand for GPU clusters • Backbone and edge experience with multi-region interconnect, transit and peering, anycast, traffic engineering, and DDoS mitigation • Cloud and hybrid networking across at least two hyperscalers plus bare-metal or colocation environments • Experience with VPC design, private interconnect, and VPN at scale • Experience designing and running network operations, including observability, change management, incident response, and on-call • Proven capacity planning and procurement-cycle experience • Network automation experience using Python or Go, infrastructure as code, CI-style validation, and streaming telemetry • Demonstrated use of AI tooling for network design, configuration, automation code, telemetry analysis, and documentation • Experience leading high-performance engineering teams, hiring, setting standards, and leading through influence • Strong ownership and comfort in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment • Based in, or able to maintain full working overlap with, US Pacific time • Strong differentiators include GPU cluster networking, modern network operating systems, disaggregated hardware, emerging fabric technologies, peering and transit operations, eBPF, DPDK, SmartNICs/DPUs, kernel-bypass networking, startup or scale-up experience, and public technical contributions
