📋 Description

• Manage litigation, third-party process, dispute resolution, and regulatory requests involving the company • Develop strategy on cutting-edge legal questions and own in-house discovery execution • Manage outside counsel across all stages of litigation, focusing on case strategy and written advocacy • Build, improve, document, and execute repeatable litigation processes • Advise stakeholders on litigation risk and align legal strategy with business priorities • Respond to day-to-day litigation requests from legal and cross-functional partners • Partner with Customer Support to advise on and resolve small disputes and escalations • Monitor regulatory and policy developments relating to generative AI • Advise AI safety, product, and engineering teams on regulatory and policy developments • Learn the technical aspects of Runway’s product and industry and apply that knowledge to legal advice • Support other legal domains as needed

🎯 Requirements

• J.D. • Admission in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar • 5+ years of dedicated litigation experience, including clerkships • Litigation experience in some combination of copyright, class action, securities, and regulatory matters • Deep knowledge of complex civil litigation practice and procedure, including discovery and federal and state court rules • Track record of running litigation matters, developing case strategy, managing discovery, drafting and editing briefs, gathering information efficiently, and preparing witnesses for depositions • Working knowledge of key legal issues in the generative AI industry • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Sound judgment under pressure and strong business acumen • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively, and consistently deliver results • Strong sense of ownership • Creative problem-solving, low ego, curiosity, and bias for action • Experience with emerging technologies, particularly generative AI and copyright litigation (nice to have) • In-house experience, particularly at a technology company (nice to have) • Familiarity with Runway and the generative AI video industry (nice to have)
