📋 Description

• Support a Cleveland Clinic business unit through direct legal practice and supervision of internal staff and outside counsel • Oversee and manage medical malpractice litigation • Provide oversight of outside counsel • Investigate and negotiate claims and settlements • Collaborate with business partners and caregiver groups on risk, claims, and litigation matters • Provide timely legal advice within the assigned area • Advise, mentor, and guide attorneys and staff • Delegate matters when necessary • Participate in budget processes and manage outside counsel cost-effectively • Maintain expertise in assigned subject matter areas • Advise and train department members on legal developments • Seek opportunities to bring the organization into legal compliance • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) from ABA accredited law school • Member in good standing of the state bar or ability to become a member of the state bar within a reasonable period of time • 10 years of comparable experience in the substantive legal area of law designated as the attorney's area(s) of expertise • Three to five years of successful experience leading internal staff as well as outside counsel (preferred) • Two years of experience in a healthcare setting or working with healthcare clients (preferred) • Medical Malpractice litigation experience (preferred) • Experience in management of outside counsel (preferred) • Experience interacting or providing advice to leadership or executive leadership (preferred) • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system • Ability to operate a computer, audio visual and other office equipment • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information, including the ability to deliver training in person and virtually • Must reside in Ohio, Florida, or Nevada • Must comply with the influenza prevention program or obtain an approved exemption • Subject to post-offer controlled-substance testing
