📋 Description

• Design and build automated reliability and self-healing systems, including automated rollbacks, deployment safeguards, and fault mitigation • Deliver reliability capabilities as platform tooling adopted by engineering teams across the company • Own and improve incident management tooling and on-call health • Reduce alert noise and surface actionable operational signals • Develop and evolve observability infrastructure, including monitoring, alerting, SLOs, and performance regression detection • Contribute to AI-driven operational tooling and autonomous remediation • Identify systemic incident patterns and eliminate operational toil • Partner with product engineering teams to diagnose reliability gaps and adopt service-operation best practices • Define and champion operational excellence best practices through guardrails, scorecards, and standards • Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles as the company scales globally

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing and building products in a software engineering team • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience • 3+ years of experience on infrastructure and/or platform engineering-focused teams • Expertise in observability, reliability, operational metrics, and data analysis • Proven track record architecting monitoring frameworks, SLO platforms, and automated response workflows • Experience with Datadog or equivalent observability tooling such as New Relic or Grafana • Proven experience working on large-scale enterprise software applications • Experience designing and implementing Developer Experience and internal portal solutions • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP • Experience implementing AI-driven automation across the SDLC; routinely applies AI tools across the workflow • Experience writing high-quality infrastructure, deployment, and operations code in Go, Python, or equivalent • Experience mentoring and supporting engineers and role-modeling engineering practices in a technical lead capacity • Proactive growth mindset • Experience with incident management tooling such as Incident.io or PagerDuty, or equivalent • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform
