📋 Description

• Prepare crossing zones • Assist children in crossing streets safely while they attend school • Enforce traffic laws and established rules and policies for crossing guard operations • Use an eight-pound hand-held STOP sign, reflector vest, two 28” traffic cones, and locking/unlocking 20 MPH flashing lights • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the safe crossing of children • Work with children, parents, school employees, and/or the public • Perform duties on a seasonal basis under the general supervision of the Crossing Guard Coordinator or Traffic Sergeant

🎯 Requirements

• Related crossing guard or traffic control experience or experience working with children preferred, but not required • Knowledge of current Utah traffic laws • Knowledge of emergency procedures • Correct use of the English language • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing using proper grammar and spelling • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions • Ability to work effectively with children, parents, school employees, and/or the public • Must use accurate judgement of traffic flow, speed, and direction of travel • Ability to prioritize activities • Ability to rapidly analyze various situations and think and act quickly and reasonably in emergency situations • Must be reliable and punctual in attendance • Must pass drug test before hire
