📋 Description

• Serve as a resource for providers regarding covered indications and supporting documentation • Support technical and professional services in provider clinics, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, and hospital professional services • Maintain understanding of National Correct Coding Initiative edits and relative value units • Support Medicare and Commercial Carrier workflows for daily coding, denial review, and appeals management • Prepare supporting documents and information for appeals • Monitor and validate physician charge capture • Review medical documentation and assign modifiers, diagnostic codes, and procedure codes • Apply relevant policies, procedures, laws, regulations, standards, and coding compliance guidelines • Provide accurate and timely ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT coding • Review and audit medical record documentation to substantiate appropriate service reimbursement • Convey coding guidelines to physicians and healthcare providers to improve medical record documentation accuracy • Participate in coding team meetings and serve as a subject matter expert

🎯 Requirements

• Associate degree in Health Information Technology or Certification in Coding required • Specific knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology • Successful coursework from an accredited institution in ICD diagnosis, CPT, HCPCS coding schemes, medical terminology or human anatomy/physiology preferred • One of RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCS-P, CCS-H, or COC certification required • If not certified at hire, certification must be obtained within one year of the date of hire • Computer skills • Ability to interpret, analyze and abstract data/documentation • Good problem-solving skills • Self-motivated with good time management and organizational skills
