📋 Description

• Review inpatient clinical documentation, procedural information, and diagnostic results • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes in the inpatient electronic medical record • Apply Official Coding Guidelines, CMS regulations/guidelines, and ICD-10 coding standards • Maintain organizational quality and productivity standards • Stay current on coding principles, governmental regulations, official guidelines, and third-party payer requirements • Apply knowledge of MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs • Collaborate with providers, clinical documentation improvement, and quality departments • Use a variety of software solutions in daily work

🎯 Requirements

• Associate degree in Health Information Technology (or eligible) or bachelor's degree in Health Information Management required • RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification required • New graduates eligible for certification must complete the certification examination at the earliest testing dates following employment • Previous hospital coding experience highly desirable • Prior computer and/or encoder software experience desirable • Strong knowledge of MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding • Knowledge of Official Coding Guidelines, CMS regulations/guidelines, and third-party payer requirements • Ability to maintain organizational quality and productivity standards
