• Work in a project team environment on the design, modification, and/or upgrade of new and existing power plant electrical systems • Develop single-line diagrams, relay and metering diagrams, AC and DC schematic diagrams, synchronizing diagrams, point-to-point wiring diagrams, and cable schedules • Check drawings produced by other personnel • Review and incorporate vendor drawings into the overall project design • Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve electrical wiring design issues independently and as part of a design team • Potentially accompany and assist in field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities • Provide guidance on drafting tools and mentor less experienced drafters and designers • Assist engineers with initial design requirements • Conceptualize plans and details to accurately convey wiring termination requirements
• Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience • Four or more years of detailed wiring design experience developing single-line, relay, and metering diagrams • Experience with medium-voltage and 480V systems • Familiarity with digital control systems • Ability to produce wiring diagrams and schematics for installers and electricians • Ability to assist engineers with initial design requirements • Ability to conceptualize plans and details conveying wiring termination requirements • Extensive AutoCAD and/or Microstation design experience on power plants or large facility projects • Thorough understanding of drafting and design practices and theories • Ability to interface and communicate with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor employees for U.S. work authorization • A 4-year degree related to Electrical or Electronics Engineering is valued but not required
