📋 Description
• Collaboration with Research Team • Identify texts and excerpts for translation • Estimate translation timelines and efforts • Incorporate feedback from Subject Matter Experts and Advisors • Support the development of Factsheets on Gurus, key figures, and historical events • Translate texts from the 1400s to the 1800s from Braj OR Persian into clear, accurate, and accessible English • Ensure translations preserve linguistic nuance and poetic structure where relevant • Flag ambiguous or contested passages and collaborate on interpretation • Ensure adherence to project-wide translation standards, maintain consistency in terminology across texts and time periods
🎯 Requirements
• Demonstrated expertise in Braj, OR Persian • Strong command of English with the ability to produce clear and readable prose • Ability to read Gurmukhi • Experience working with historical texts and manuscripts • Familiarity with South Asian historical contexts • Familiarity with Sikh history
