📋 Description

• Provide primarily oral Chinese interpretation support in formal meetings and office settings • Integrate into a customer team and engage with client personnel to support the mission • Provide consecutive interpretation while preserving speaker nuance and terminology • Apply knowledge of foreign affairs, military affairs, international security, and regional security vocabulary • Develop vocabulary and fluency for niche technical topics • Participate in preparation and after-action meetings • Type notes related to engagements • Provide limited written translations of documents • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and terminology guide • Travel for engagements in East Asia on an at least quarterly basis • Participate promptly in travel logistics planning • Attend meetings and prepare documents in Northern Virginia before and after travel

🎯 Requirements

• Active in-scope Secret clearance • U.S. citizenship required for the security clearance • Minimum of 5 years of experience in oral interpretation • Native or near-native Chinese competency, defined as ILR level 4 or 5 • Documentation of recent language scores or completion of standardized language exams during the application process • Familiarity with Chinese culture, media, and linguistic nuance • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills • Valid US passport • Ability to travel at least quarterly with 30–60 days’ notice • Professional Interpretation Certification preferred • Active in-scope TS/SCI clearance preferred • Familiarity to fluency in Taiwanese preferred • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Foreign Affairs, International Politics, Military History, Chinese Studies, Interpretation, or similar preferred • Experience in the US intelligence, military, or cryptographic communities preferred
