📋 Description

• Own major features end to end with the design team, from decision through release • Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features • Review pull requests and provide developmental feedback • Unblock team members by investigating technical blockers • Identify reusable team solutions and drive their adoption • Maintain shared components with testing, clarity, and consolidation • Initiate improvements to team processes • Reduce manual intervention required for correct releases • Address recurring problems at the underlying system level • Shift verification left and expand automated checks before QA • Run planning focused on work requiring decisions • Define appropriate review levels and required sign-offs • Participate in Product, Design, and Engineering discussions and raise team constraints early • Handle critical issues, own feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA • Support early-career team members with learning-focused work and development time • Participate in technical interviews and a real-codebase assessment process

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on • Rock solid Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work • Understanding of the importance of tests and how to approach writing them, including what can't be covered by them • Experience introducing a change to a team that remained in use after implementation • Comfort asking people to change how they work and managing resulting friction • Ability to determine which changes need heavy review and which do not • Track record of building things the rest of the team used • Ability to describe how the team works with AI agents • Product design intuition, user empathy, and ability to push Android UI/UX beyond specifications • Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the specification • Excellent communication skills • Portfolio and LinkedIn links requested in application • Open source Android projects, iOS, Web, or NodeJS experience are bonuses
