β’ The Port Engineer is responsible for effectively meeting the technical goals of the company. β’ Ensuring the vessels are technically fit to operate, preventative maintenance is attended to, critical spares are maintained and operational, and downtime is minimized. β’ Develop, manage, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance schedules. β’ Coordinate with shipyard, contractors, and vendors for repairs and dry-docking. β’ Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. β’ Ensure vessels are in optimal condition to meet operational schedules and mission requirements. β’ Conduct routine inspections to verify that vessels meet company and client standards. β’ Develop and manage annual budgets for vessel maintenance and repairs. β’ Monitor and control Technical operation costs, ensuring cost-effective solutions. β’ Maintain accurate records of spare parts and equipment inventory. β’ Manage class inspections, surveys, and certifications to maintain compliance. β’ Keep up to date with regulatory changes impacting vessel operations. β’ Manage relationships with shipyards, repair facilities, and parts suppliers. β’ Review and approve contractor scopes of work, bids, and invoices. β’ Coordinate logistics for on-site contractors during maintenance or repair projects. β’ Collaborate with vessel chief engineers to plan and conduct crew training on technical systems and safety protocols. β’ Liaise with the HR department to ensure technical crew members are qualified and certified according to industry standards.
β’ A minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a port engineer is required for this role. β’ A minimum of five (5) years of sailing experience in an engineering role is required. β’ A valid USCG engineerβs license or Designated Duty Engineer (DDE) license is preferred. β’ A High School Diploma or a GED Certificate is required. β’ A BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience. β’ Should be able to lift to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 30 pounds. β’ The individual will be required to be in production areas in the Shipyards and on board ships. β’ Must be able to walk to and from job sites. β’ The person must be able to climb inclined stairways and vertical ladders, enter confined areas and tanks, and work at heights. β’ Must possess a valid Driverβs License, Passport, and be able to receive a TWIC.
