📋 Description

• Develop, write, and submit grant proposals to foundations and institutional funders • Ensure timely proposal submissions, compliance with reporting requirements, and effective funder stewardship • Liaise with program, development, and finance staff regarding grant requirements and reporting expectations • Maintain a grants calendar for timely planning and submission of donor proposals and reports • Conduct prospect research and qualification to identify high-potential individuals, corporations, and foundations • Develop prospect engagement strategies and build a sustainable donor pipeline • Provide regular reporting and insights to optimize fundraising strategies • Apply an equity-informed approach to prospect research and analysis • Draft and manage donor stewardship emails and other written communications • Support moves management and donor engagement across the portfolio • Collaborate with frontline fundraisers and leadership on fundraising efforts • Participate in portfolio review meetings • Support leadership funder travel and donor events, including logistics, briefing materials, and relationship cultivation • Lead strategy, solicitation, and tracking of corporate sponsors for State Voices convenings and events • Coordinate with program leads and senior staff to identify targets, make asks, track income, and provide sponsor experiences • Maintain accurate donor CRM records and track research insights, moves management, and prospect assignments • Use CRM tools to generate prospect lists, profiles, and reporting materials • Meet weekly with the Development Officer to review work plans and develop solutions • Offer mentorship and learning opportunities to junior department members • Keep abreast of foundation fundraising best practices and trends • Participate in State Voices national staff activities and other assigned duties

🎯 Requirements

• 2-4 years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising processes and teams, including grant writing, database management and administration, increased programmatic responsibilities, and prospect research • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills • Strong writing and editing skills; ability to translate complex ideas and strategies into clear, concise, and compelling narratives • Ability to professionally communicate deadlines, needs, and action items internally and externally • Comfortable with ambiguity and working under a variety of circumstances • Experience with donor CRM databases • Knowledge of nonprofit 501(c)(3) compliance and donor privacy policies • Experience maintaining development-related files • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies • Commitment to racial equity and valuing individuals and their differences • Ability to build relationships marked by respect, trust, and integrity • Genuine interpersonal skills and ability to develop deep relationships with funders, colleagues, and team members • Understanding of confidential organizational information and building donor trust through transparency and accountability • Appreciation for and commitment to the mission of State Voices • Experience in or familiarity with the cyclical nature of the civic engagement space • Strong operational and organizational skills with a hands-on work style • Ability and willingness to contribute as a team player • Creativity, resourcefulness, appropriate aggressiveness, entrepreneurial and intellectual curiosity
