📋 Description

• Deliver specific high school mathematics course content in an online environment • Provide rich and engaging synchronous learning experiences • Provide live instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process • Focus instruction on students’ individual needs and monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system • Work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance learning toward established goals • Apply K12 curriculum and online school knowledge to the assigned grade and subject level • Augment course content and develop instructional tools, strategies, and lessons aligned with school pacing schedules • Contact students regularly by email or phone and respond to inquiries • Participate in academic-focused meetings and virtual staff meetings • Monitor and report student academic and pacing progress; generate formal reports • Alert school administrators to concerns about student progress and attendance • Organize orientation, training, social, and educational activities for students and families • Create monthly newsletters or update websites as needed • Lead student/parent orientations and assess students according to policy • Travel occasionally throughout the year to school functions such as state testing

🎯 Requirements

• Appropriate state Department of Education High School (9-12) Math Teaching Certification required • Residents of any of the 50 states and Washington, D.C. are eligible • Bachelor’s degree and one year of industry experience leading to certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Appropriate subject teaching certification • Shared view of the virtual academy’s mission • Strong content and subject-matter knowledge • Ability to support and guide adults and students • Excellent knowledge of motivational techniques • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills • Willingness and ability to obtain additional state licensing as required • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Microsoft Office and web proficiency • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time • Ability to pass a required background check • Internet service with modem/router • High-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload when not competing with other household users • Satellite, DSL, data plans, wireless, and dial-up services are not compatible for call quality • Typically available 20–25 hours per week, with fewer or additional hours potentially required based on business needs • Availability may be required during daytime business hours, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. ET, Monday–Friday • Preferred: experience as an online learner • Preferred: experience using a student information system and/or other database • Preferred: experience teaching in a virtual setting
