• Provide preventive health services supporting the education process and students' physical, mental, emotional, and social development • Identify health problems and disabilities • Provide case finding, health education, referrals, and care • Assist with onboarding requirements, Medical 504 and IEP processes, and tracking medical concerns for the school and families • Promote and protect students' optimal health status • Correspond with parents about children's health needs and serve as a resource to staff on school health issues • Work with leadership to develop policies, procedures, and work standards for the school health program • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies • Collaborate with child-support agencies in designing and providing a school health program • Organize, screen, and conduct health appraisals for students and staff • Record immunizations, health screening findings, and other relevant health data in local, state, and federal databases • Maintain confidentiality of student records • Provide health careers and health science instruction to a caseload of students • Promote health careers and coordinate student organizations • Provide health guidance and presentations to students across grade levels
• A college degree from an accredited institution is required • Current LPN license or higher-level healthcare license/credential in the state in which the employee will perform services, as applicable to the position • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in a healthcare, clinical, public health, school health, or related health services setting • Must meet all state-required background checks, clearances, and other employment requirements • State Department of Education required clearances, if required • Working knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services • Some knowledge of the school organization and the community served • Ability to identify abnormal growth and development and symptoms of disease • Ability to coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agency, and other community resources • Ability to develop and maintain student health records • Ability to develop positive working relationships • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to clear required background check • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday • Microsoft Office and web proficiency are desired • Ability to travel 20% of the time is desired
