• Conduct initial screening of psychiatric and medical needs for incoming referrals for psychiatric and chemical dependency admissions. • Provide virtual intake services through phone triage and patient assessments. • Triage patients in acute crisis and determine disposition to the correct level of care. • Perform mental status assessments when an involuntary hold evaluation is required. • Triage patients according to illness severity and determine appropriate patient placement. • Provide illness advice and self-care interventions. • Identify resources, consult, and refer patients as appropriate. • Use the nursing process, physician input, and Sutter Health telephone nursing guidelines and protocols. • Maintain efficient operations, provide quality care, and support positive patient outcomes. • Work with physicians, nurses, administrators, peers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. • RN-Registered Nurse of California (must be able to acquire prior to starting). • RN-Registered Nurse in State of Residence. • 1 year of mental health experience preferred. • 2 years of practical nursing experience in a hospital, clinic, urgent care, or emergency room/department preferred. • Professional knowledge of clinical nursing protocols, regulations, institutional standards of care, risk management, disease processes, emergencies, health sciences, and pharmacology. • Advanced clinical knowledge of medical diagnoses, procedures, protocols, treatments, terminology, and applicable state and federal regulations and guidelines. • Solid analytical and project management skills. • Communication, interpersonal, and interviewing skills. • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical/health records. • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities/projects simultaneously. • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to unsafe or emergency situations. • Ability to ensure patient privacy and protected health information (PHI). • Ability to analyze and solve standard problems using guidelines, policies, experience, and judgment. • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers, physicians, nurses, administrators, and the public. • Must be a resident of Utah, Idaho, Arizona, Montana, or Missouri.
