Swarm Aero is a developer and manufacturer of uncrewed aerial systems built from the ground up for swarming operations. The company combines on-aircraft autonomy, a universal swarm node (sensor mesh and edge compute), and swarm-scale command-and-control so small teams can mobilize large numbers of UAVs in communications-limited or contested environments. Swarm Aero emphasizes high-rate composite manufacturing and concurrent factory design to scale production, and pursues both defense-focused applications (payloads in contested environments, detecting/tracking mobile assets, security/defense in depth) and civilian uses (cargo delivery, disaster response, resilient communications, environmental observation). 📋 Description

• Build and own critical software integrations for C2 systems in customer environments, from initial deployment through production reliability • Debug complex distributed-systems issues in the field using logs, network traffic, and system-performance analysis • Contribute to core service development and ship product improvements informed by field experience • Write code daily across the full stack, including customer integrations, core services, monitoring, and reliability solutions • Support continuous operational environments through non-standard hours, on-call response, and rotational mission coverage • Travel domestically and internationally to test sites and customer locations, deploying software and troubleshooting field issues • Collaborate with U.S. military and government program offices on-site and remotely, translating operational requirements into software solutions

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated ability • Strong proficiency in Python, C/C++, Golang, or Java • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including NAT, DNS/mDNS, UDP/TCP, multicast, and firewall configuration • Experience with Linux system administration and shell scripting • Proven ability to debug complex software systems using logs, debuggers, and systematic tracing • Excellent communication skills for engaging with U.S. government and military customers and internal engineering teams • Willingness and ability to travel 60% of the time domestically and internationally, including remote or restricted-access locations • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance; active Secret clearance preferred but not required • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code preferred • Background in distributed systems, real-time systems, or robotics software preferred • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation preferred • Customer-facing engineering or technical sales engineering experience preferred • Prior defense, intelligence community, or aerospace software experience preferred • Comfort operating in non-permissive or resource-constrained environments preferred • Legal authorization to work in the United States • Must meet citizenship requirements to obtain a U.S. security clearance
