• Support Sysco’s broadline companies with EHS expertise • Support the field safety team and serve as liaison between the global EHS team and broadline sites • Integrate the EHS functional strategy into all Sysco business sectors • Design standardized safety systems, policies, training, campaigns, and programs to reduce corporate and human capital risk and ensure legal compliance • Build a high-performing team and assist with hiring site safety professionals • Participate in talent calibrations, onboarding, professional development, coaching, and alignment with field safety management • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for EHS strategy and initiatives • Partner with functional leaders to influence and manage EHS resources, projects, and business decisions • Develop internal and external alliances to implement EHS policies, programs, procedures, standards, training, and processes • Design and execute injury-prevention programs to create a world-class safety culture and minimize injury risk • Analyze injury and accident frequency/severity trends and direct implementation of training programs • Support environmental compliance and claims programs, including workers’ compensation, general liability, motor vehicle, and property damage
• Bachelor’s degree with major course work in EHS, risk management, safety, industrial, quality, environmental engineering, or a closely related field, or relevant Sysco EHS experience equivalent in lieu of degree • 10+ years of progressive EHS program management experience with large national or multinational companies with multiple sites, or equivalent experience • Board of Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) certification or equivalent required, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire • Strong knowledge of USA federal, state, and local EHS requirements and industry standards/best practices • Experience leading and motivating cross-functional and diverse teams in matrix and non-matrix organizations • Strong business plan and strategy development and presentation skills • Ability to implement data- and research-driven EHS programs that change behavior and prevent injuries • Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, decision-making, and project management skills • Experience collaborating with unions • English required; bilingual Spanish highly valued • Ability to travel to Sysco facilities in the US up to 50% of the time • Ability to sit, stand, drive, walk, use office equipment, and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds • Ability to work in indoor, outdoor, freezer, and cooler climates and driving conditions for a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week operation
