📋 Description

• Provide practical legal advice and counseling on product-related issues arising domestically and internationally • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Strategy teams throughout the product lifecycle • Identify issues, recommend practical solutions, and assist cross-functional go-to-market efforts • Advise on AI policies, liability, licensing, responsible AI development and deployment, and risk assessments • Develop and enhance processes for product compliance with global laws and regulations, including privacy, data security, export control, and trade compliance • Negotiate inbound and outbound license agreements • Participate in the company’s open-source review process • Advise on privacy by design, privacy impact assessments, and data handling and minimization throughout the software development lifecycle • Review product collateral and marketing materials • Serve as a product subject matter expert for Contracts and Legal teams and assist with contract negotiations • Support the incident response program and respond to security events • Contribute to IP strategy and product roadmap, including patent and trademark portfolio management and IP enforcement with product teams and outside counsel

🎯 Requirements

• JD from an accredited institution • Active and in good standing in at least one state bar • At least 5 years of relevant legal experience at a law firm, government agency, and/or in-house • Substantive exposure to the software, SaaS, or related technology industry • Familiarity with emerging AI legal considerations, governance frameworks (e.g., NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act) and regulations • Ability to translate AI legal requirements into actionable guidance for product and engineering teams • Working knowledge of global privacy laws and their impact on software product development • Exceptionally good communication skills • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a tightly-knit legal team • Ability to work cross-functionally to build consensus and achieve strategic goals • Ability to enforce legal requirements without alienating clients
