📋 Description

• Review and process new, open, routine, complex, and backlogged FOIA requests • Determine whether records are responsive to assigned requests • Analyze records and recommend the appropriate application of FOIA and Privacy Act exemptions • Prepare records for release by applying redactions • Draft correspondence to requesters and coordinate with records custodians to clarify scope, search terms, and disclosure concerns • Support FOIA appeals and litigation by organizing case files, reviewing records, and preparing supporting documentation • Use case-management, eDiscovery, SharePoint, Box, and other approved systems • Record case actions, correspondence, determinations, and supporting documentation accurately in the designated tracking system • Prepare document indices, status reports, disclosure analyses, and case-closure documentation • Perform additional duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution • At least 5 years of relevant FOIA experience • Demonstrated expertise reviewing and handling federal FOIA cases • Advanced knowledge of FOIA exemptions, the Privacy Act, disclosure analysis, appeals, and litigation support • Experience using eDiscovery, electronic case-management, and redaction tools; experience with Relativity is highly desirable • Ability to independently analyze complex or sensitive records and produce accurate, defensible recommendations • Exceptional analytical, writing, quality-control, and organizational skills • Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
