📋 Description

• Review emergency department medical records • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and applicable modifiers • Assign facility Evaluation and Management (E/M) levels according to client-specific guidelines and facility charging methodologies • Analyze nursing, physician, ancillary department, and diagnostic service documentation for complete code assignment and charge capture • Review accounts for procedural services and injections/infusions • Identify documentation deficiencies and communicate coding clarification needs • Participate in coding quality reviews, audits, educational initiatives, and process improvement activities • Stay current on coding updates, reimbursement changes, and regulatory requirements • Collaborate with coding leadership, auditors, and client representatives to resolve coding-related issues

🎯 Requirements

• Intermediate Level experience • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and applicable modifiers • Knowledge of facility Evaluation and Management (E/M) levels and client-specific emergency department leveling guidelines • Knowledge of the ACEP tool • Apply official coding guidelines, CMS regulations, National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits, and payer-specific requirements • Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, and organizational coding policies • Must meet a 96% quality standard • Process 100 charts per day in an outpatient clinic setting • Must be open to shifts between 6 AM and 6 PM, Monday through Friday
