• Code ambulatory surgery, observation, and ancillary encounters • Review operative reports and clinical documentation to assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes • Abstract clinical and demographic data into hospital information systems • Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, AHIMA, and AAPC guidelines • Assign and validate APCs and support claim readiness • Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify documentation as needed • Assist with emergency department and outpatient diagnostic coding based on department volume • Meet established productivity, quality, and accuracy standards • Work assigned encounters through Epic work queues using service-date-based workflow management
• Must reside in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, or Texas • Completion of an AHIMA or AAPC approved coding program • Active coding certification, such as CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent • 4–5 years of recent hospital-based outpatient coding experience • Epic experience • Strong facility coding experience • Acute care hospital experience • Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and outpatient reimbursement methodologies • Emergency Department coding experience preferred • Outpatient diagnostics coding experience preferred • Experience supporting multiple outpatient work queues preferred • Broad procedural coding experience across multiple specialties preferred • Availability for a full-time Monday–Friday schedule, 40 hours per week • Ability to meet established productivity, quality, and accuracy standards
