📋 Description

• Supervise and coordinate personal lines underwriting staff • Ensure timely decision-making, proper risk selection, pricing, and business monitoring • Ensure profitability and growth of personal lines business • Build and maintain agency relationships • Review complex underwriting inquiries and approve risks beyond staff authority • Collaborate with field marketing to resolve agency and company service issues • Attend weekly and monthly calls with field and senior leadership • Oversee customer inquiries and complaints • Negotiate with internal and external customers • Ensure adherence to underwriting policies, guidelines, and procedures • Assess demand and align resources across Personal Lines Underwriting • Communicate goals and develop underwriting team members • Develop, recommend, and implement risk management plans and procedures • Prepare and review performance appraisals and conduct performance review meetings • Participate in quality reviews and corporate audits • Implement best practices to strengthen underwriting acumen • Identify and communicate key issues to appropriate audiences • Contribute to or lead project teams and coordinate resources • Motivate team members to support initiatives and projects • Improve department performance through new ideas, processes, and workflows • Achieve service, production, and quality goals • Maintain understanding of state strategies and align actions with state goals • Manage portfolio business mix and profitable growth • Review production results and identify workflow and process efficiencies • Hire and develop talent while cultivating a growth mindset

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 3 to 6 years underwriting experience • Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred • Advanced Personal Lines risk management knowledge • Ability to teach others underwriting and risk management concepts • Strong people management skills • Coaching and professional development support skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to effectively and creatively utilize systems and other resources • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills • Ability to anticipate customer needs and take a proactive approach • Ability to multitask and reprioritize • Ability to maintain focus and accountability in ambiguous situations • Ability to work independently and make decisions affecting workflow, staffing, and daily operations
