📋 Description

• Monitor & Track: Keep a close eye on state and federal legislative movement, keeping a daily bill tracking system updated and organized. • Strategic Planning: Help build and execute the organization's policy goals and long-term advocacy strategies. • Content Creation: Write and edit policy memos, letters, talking points, reports, and public advocacy resources. • Partnerships: Build and maintain strong alliances with other non-profits, government officials, stakeholders, and key offices to strengthen advocacy efforts. • Public Representation: Serve as a spokesperson for LGBTQ+ youth by speaking at panels, conferences, and meetings. • Community Education: Educate policymakers, stakeholders and the public on LGBTQ+ policies and suicide prevention. • Cross-Team Alignment: Coordinate with internal team partners within Advocacy and other departments to keep projects aligned. • Project Management: Juggle multiple short- and long-term projects with high attention to detail and strong follow-through. • Team Leadership: Train, manage, and mentor volunteers and interns. • Demonstrate fair, ethical, and equitable business practices • Learn eagerly, share knowledge appropriately, and improve continuously • Demonstrate successful planning and problem-solving skills, including multitasking and working well within tight timelines • Work, communicate, and collaborate effectively with others • Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in all work • Demonstrate a commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging

🎯 Requirements

• Demonstrated experience working on legislative analysis, drafting, and amendment strategy in a state legislative or equivalent setting for 3-5 years. Experience with technology and appropriations policy at this level is ideal. • Demonstrated experience clearly and persuasively communicating complex ideas to different audiences in written, spoken and presentational formats for 3-5 years. • Demonstrated experience building trusted productive long-term relationships within organizations and with external partners to collaborate on advocacy initiatives with local, state, and national partners and have experience working with marginalized communities (e.g. LGBTQ+ people, communities of color, and people with disabilities, among others). • A demonstrable commitment to LGBTQ rights, youth mental health, or crisis intervention advocacy with an eagerness to grow support for LGBTQ rights among conflicted audiences. • Proficiency in: • - Legislative Tracking Software: 1+ year of demonstrated experience in using legislative trackers to follow a high volume of daily policy happenings • - Google Suite Products: Familiarity with using the Google platform including Google Docs, Sheets, and Presentations. • - Grassroots activation technology: You have used emails and SMS messages in various platforms such as MailChimp and texting platforms to mobilize grassroots advocacy opportunities. • - Culturally competent: You have a nuanced understanding of the experiences of LGBTQ+ folks and/or youth mental health. You are passionate and willing to learn more about the marginalized identities, and bring your awareness to all the work you do. • Strong emotional intelligence, integrity, discretion, and ability to build trust across diverse teams and stakeholders • Spoken and written English
