📋 Description

• Monitor delinquent accounts and perform collection duties • Review reports, research, and resolve issues • Review payment postings for accuracy and ensure account balances are current • Work with co-workers to resolve insurance payment and billing errors • Monitor and update delinquent account status • Recommend accounts for collection or write-off • Contact patients to secure past-due balances • Verify patient demographics and insurance providers • Update information in systems and document conversations • Answer patient payment, billing, and insurance questions and resolve complaints • Refer patients to Patient Benefits Representatives for payment plans when appropriate • Maintain patient and payor credit balances and ensure timely refunds within government guidelines and regulations • Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines regarding patient records • Perform other duties as requested or assigned • Interact frequently with employees, payers, and Practice staff

🎯 Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required • Minimum two (2) years combined medical billing and payment experience required • Knowledge of state, federal, and third party claims processing required • Knowledge of state and federal collections guidelines • Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position • Knowledge of the profession and industry • Ability to access and use resources when appropriate • Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change • Positive interpersonal relations with employees, supervisors, physicians, patients, and outside contacts • Ability to make timely, cost-effective, and sound decisions under uncertainty • High standards of performance and efficient goal achievement • Commitment to quality and process improvement • Ability to regularly sit and use a computer keyboard and mouse • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, reach, and lift or move up to 30 pounds • Vision and hearing corrected to normal ranges
