📋 Description

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Thermo Fisher Scientific Trace Elemental and Chromatography instrumentation, including ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC, and HPLC systems • Diagnose complex electrical, mechanical, fluidic, vacuum, software, and application-related instrument issues and identify effective solutions • Perform preventative maintenance, qualification, system upgrades, and other field service activities according to established procedures and quality standards • Provide technical support and customer service while developing professional customer relationships • Apply analytical instrumentation and laboratory-application knowledge to understand customer workflows and diagnose system performance issues • Manage service activities independently across a geographically dispersed territory while balancing customer priorities, travel requirements, and scheduled maintenance • Document service activities, troubleshooting findings, parts usage, and completed repairs in company service management systems • Read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, service procedures, and instrument diagnostics • Support customers with instrument operation, routine maintenance, and best practices • Partner with technical support, applications specialists, sales, and other Field Service Engineers to resolve complex customer issues • Maintain assigned tools, test equipment, service parts, and company resources • Follow Thermo Fisher Scientific safety, quality, regulatory, and customer-site requirements • Respond to customer needs on short notice to minimize instrument downtime • Deliver a high level of customer satisfaction and professionalism

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required in Chemistry, Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or a related scientific or technical field • 2+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing complex analytical, scientific, laboratory, or comparable electromechanical equipment • Strong electrical, mechanical, and system-level troubleshooting skills • Ability to systematically diagnose complex instrument problems and isolate failures to the component or subsystem level • Understanding of fluidics, electronics, vacuum systems, pumps, valves, detectors, high-voltage systems, computer-controlled instrumentation, and related technologies is beneficial • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work independently in the field • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service • Ability to translate technical information for customers of varying expertise and provide effective training and support on instrument operation and basic maintenance • Ability to effectively manage schedules, prioritize competing customer needs, and organize workload across a large geographic territory • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to effectively use service management and diagnostic software • Frequent overnight travel, approximately 50% of working nights, depending on customer demand and service activity • Travel extensively throughout the territory by automobile, with occasional air travel as required • Ability to respond to customer needs and changes in scheduling with limited notice • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. • Ability to work in laboratory, industrial, and other customer environments while following applicable safety requirements • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen • Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements
