📋 Description

• Provide strategic direction to one or more departments • Establish operating policies and procedures affecting departments and work units • Develop budgets, schedules, department objectives, and metrics • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and senior-level business partners • Lead briefings and technical meetings supporting IT objectives • Review technical solution designs and architectures and provide guidance • Participate in system design and architecture discussions • Support execution of technical solutions • Develop software, read code, and stay current with best practices • Ensure code reviews are completed • Promote learning, idea sharing, and best practices • Analyze technology trends and assess emerging technology impacts • Support agile practices, learning events, and training • Remove barriers and engage in sprint demos • Partner with Product Managers on initiatives, features, and epics • Collaborate on product strategies, operating plans, targets, and measures • Foster a psychologically safe, collaborative team environment • Broker solutions across products and teams • Align the team with company and technology-organization priorities • Participate in product and platform technology vision, strategy, roadmaps, objectives, and alignment • Influence prioritization of technology upgrades in product roadmaps • Guide tool and platform selection • Define engineering standards, patterns, and lifecycle processes • Promote continuous improvement, development, and observability practices • Support production incident resolution and serve as an escalation point • Monitor and improve product health through observability, monitoring, and alerting • Manage technology platforms and vendor relationships • Guide build-versus-buy decisions and vendor selection • Hold regular one-to-ones and team meetings • Provide feedback, coaching, and career planning to engineers • Lead consulting-partner selection and engagement • Plan future staffing needs and collaborate on recruitment • Recruit, develop, and sustain a high-performing team • Manage direct and indirect staff • Model Thrivent’s leadership competencies and support continuous improvement, employee engagement, and client commitment

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent work experience • 8+ years of progressively responsible positions in Information Technology, including 5+ years’ experience in an IT discipline • 3+ years of leadership experience in a specific IT discipline • 3+ years’ management/supervisory experience in an IT functional area discipline, or equivalent skills leading major technical projects • Demonstrated leadership and experience managing multidiscipline, high-performance work teams • Strong competency in project management and execution of multiple or large projects • Experience working with customers to develop solutions to complex business problems • Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal/external stakeholders • Ability to function with flexibility, good judgment, and intelligent decision making in challenging conditions • Ability to formulate, implement, and evaluate plans, programs, and procedures applicable to customer relationship and demand management • Preferred: MBA • Preferred: Financial Services industry experience • Preferred: Experience in IT planning and business relationship management • Preferred: Experience working in a matrix management organization • Preferred: Experience with product development and management
