📋 Description

• Design, build, and maintain core optimization technology, full-stack systems, and data-intensive systems powering school scheduling • Lead challenging technical projects across optimization, full-stack, and data domains • Operationalize the optimizer product for scale and usage • Participate in on-call support as needed • Establish tests and observability • Run data-driven experiments to inform core technology decisions • Partner with product to improve the optimizer’s core algorithm, model-builders, and full-stack job orchestration framework • Research, recommend, and implement extensions using generative AI and machine learning • Lead major projects and initiatives and support the product squad in meeting goals • Define and disambiguate new opportunities • Provide technical leadership for key areas of the optimizer stack and wider engineering team • Troubleshoot customer issues and provide timely resolutions • Mentor and support junior engineers • Promote continuous improvement and collaboration

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of development experience • Demonstrated track record of shipping value to customers while contributing across the stack • Prior success driving software delivery on complex and challenging technology projects • Depth of knowledge in linear optimization modeling and solvers, application stacks built heavily on machine learning, product and infrastructure stacks leveraging generative AI, or backend API and asynchronous task development • Ability to learn and contribute to frontend engineering, cloud infrastructure, and data engineering as needed • Demonstrated ability to dive deeply into complex product requirements and challenging technical domains • Proficiency developing and maintaining scalable web applications • Experience implementing unit and integration tests • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines • Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments • Commitment to continuous improvement through code reviews, pairing, and collaborative problem-solving • Experience and comfort operating in a fast startup environment • Prior EdTech experience is a plus but not required • Preference for candidates based in New York or Boston • Ability to answer whether work authorization sponsorship in the United States will be required
